I write this on October 13 under the powerful energy of the Full Harvest Moon. This moon always packs a wallop and is in the House of Aries. Why pay attention to this? What does it matter, and how does following the cycles of nature enhance our lives?
Consider this, we are manifestations of nature, we like everything else are made up of matter and energy. Our genetic footprint is linked to so much of the natural world. We are woven together in a vast tapestry of energy and all of it vibrates and connects us together.
The moon in all her splendor cycles throughout the months as a woman cycles, as the seasons cycle, as life and death cycle. Awareness around these powerful cycles and small celebrations to honor them is healthy ritual for all of us.
There is no doubting the statistics which are measurable around crime and violence when the moon is full. There is no refuting the tides. This primordial pull is part of the human animal instinct and still affects us in modern times. I can personally attest to how the mood affects small children. I taught school for thirty years and there is no questioning children, especially in groups, were more energized and often combative disruptive or just plain crazy during a full moon.
Each moon has its own energetic signature, and if you become aware of what the over-arching feeling is you can be a bit more mindful in how you go about your tasks and interactions.
This moon is a doozy. Aries is a fire sign. Nothing shrinking about it. This is not the time to engage in a major confrontation which you know will trigger someone. It is likely to be explosive if you do. However, if there is a relationship which no longer serves you…go ahead and bait it now. The outcome will probably be final and conclusive.
The fire in this moon does ask us to applaud and honor ourselves, our achievements and victories. Go ahead and crow about it! We are led to believe this is unacceptable behavior, we think of this as bragging and find it unseemly. But when you know in your heart you have done something well, you have created or accomplished something which holds your passion and desires, sharing this can be infectious and downright inspiring.
So sing your own praises, at least to yourself! Build a fire and feel it’s heat burn away any self-doubt or lack of confidence. Embrace the moon and her cycles; share your victories and feel the energy wan until her power is shrouded in darkness once again surging towards the Light.
