Get Grounded

Most of us have heard this term, to be grounded…but what does it really mean, and how does it feel to truly be grounded?

The fact is many of us will never really know. Grounding is a practice, a skill, a lifestyle. Steeped in the energies of the Earth, our physical lives today have sadly become disconnected from our roots. We are animals, how we feel about this truth emotionally varies from human to human, but we are. Our physical bodies are closely linked in many subtle and apparent ways to our fellow animals who inhabit this Earth our home. As animals we physically need Earth energy connection. Consider our vibrational frequencies, they match those of the Earths soil, as does our mineral content. Not to mention the amount of water we carry in our bodies.

We need Earth connection. Early peoples were deeply connected to the Earth; hunting, gathering, walking upon, sleeping upon, working the soil.

Consider your modern day disconnect from this energy. The amount of screen time, the rushing through the busyness of life without connecting to what is real. The Earth, the changing mother without who we would not exist. To be grounded we need this connection, instinctively we know this, we feel better when we are out of doors. We enjoy and marvel at the beauty of the Earth, we flock to the sea and the mountains. We laugh over the antics of our fellow animals on YouTube. We know this, but we do not always take time to practice it.

The cost of this disconnect is high. We see it all around, dis-ease, confusion, lack of focus, anxiety, depression. The disregard for the welfare of the Mother will haunt us for generations. We must find a way to reconnect and to honor if we want her to continue to provide.

It does not need to be grand, a simple practice of awareness, noticing the cycles of the seasons, the moon. Tending the soil, planting our feet upon it and making a mindful connection.

Honoring her gifts, practicing good stewardship. And a few moments each day to feel your roots, to draw in the nourishment needed and give thanks. Ground down into what is, what has always been and what shall be. Our bodies in connection with the Earth have ancient wisdom, we only need to tap in and receive.
