Destiny

Destiny, a loaded concept to be sure. Just the sound of the word can feel ominous…destiny.

The responsibility and finality of it all. But what if it’s just a word whose meaning carries some illusion?

Are we really meant for a particularly rigid and defined destiny? And how does the concept of Karma fit into this? Heavy stuff.

It’s possible destiny which projects into the unknown, into a future which has yet to take form, is illusionary. Maybe it’s our choices which influence our destinies. Karma speaks to choices one makes in this life and past lives which shape what may or may not come into form.

When seeking answers towards our futures, struggle as we may, we rarely get any clear cut and reliable answers. It’s pretty safe to say the future is not yet revealed and not our present reality. The past also no longer reality. This energy lives in our heads and hearts and should be honored, but surrendered so we can be free to grow. Grow into our best selves unfettered by the demons of the past and the worries of the future.

The choices we make and the energy we release into our lives creates possible futures, a kind of maybe destiny. However, what lays ahead in our earthly lives truly remains in the darkness of the unseen form. It has yet to take place and cannot be completely controlled no matter how hard we project.

Personally, I try to detach from any concept of destiny, rather focus on possibility. What is possible if I make choices which lift myself and others up towards the highest good? What energy can be ignited in the present moment that carries the possibility of positive outcomes? For the greater good, beyond my limiting needs and desires.

Tall order. Takes a lifetime of practice to build on. Not something in my view even attainable, or meant to be achieved in the span of one human life.

Only the possibility of growth a leveling up, higher consciousness awakening bit by bit, one choice at a time. Like a steep climb to the summit where often one stumbles, falls and flies hurtling backward, only to pick oneself up again and move forward. This life is a journey of possibilities shaped through choice, energy, and the loving Grace of the Divine.

Feels better to me anyway than the finality of destiny.
