This time of year especially there is much energy around the powerful practice of Gratitude. Sages and Wisdom teachings throughout the ages have embraced this simple and beautiful technique for centuries.
It is intention and prayer to offer thanks, to the Creator, to the Earth, to one another. It is a positive energy practice which fuels the goodness inherent in the Universe and lifts up the Collective.
We can get a little jaded about this, it is easier and often more fun to feed our negative Shadow selves and offer up tidbits of complaints and suffering rather than focus our heart felt appreciation for all that we have.
When we wake up to the powers of feeding either positive or negative thinking and speech, we often practice gratitude which only scratches the surface of this profound intention.
We offer a quick and hasty thanks before meals, or at bedtime, or after we or our loved ones arrive safely at their destination. To be sure this is of great value and we should not stop, but perhaps we could go deeper. During moments of quiet contemplation we can endeavor to connect with our Higher Selves and with the Divine Source of our own understanding and offer authentic thanks.
If called, take some time to become very still, very alone and very quiet. Connect with the miraculous rhythm of your breath. Feel the Prana and pulse, the hum of your physical existence. Watch and listen for your inner spark, your pure and Divine essence. Feel the support of the Earth and all her many gifts around you. Know you are nourished, know you are loved. Feel these gifts and be grateful.
Take time each day if only for a few moments to really connect with the Earth, the Creator and yourself and give pure joyful thanks.
Thanks for your life, for the planet, for the good and the bad. There is growth in all of it and it is truly miraculous and beautiful.
